3 Taliban killed by own bomb

MAIMANA (PAN insurgents were killed in a blast caused by their own explosives in the northern province of Faryab, officials said on Saturday.

They were planting a roadside bomb in the Qush Kam area of Khwaja Sabz Posh district on Friday night when the device went off prematurely, police spokesman Syed Masoud Yaqubi told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Separately, three Taliban men, including a commander named Mullah Fairoz, were detained by police in the Pakhtunkot district. The district chief said the arrests were made in Sorkhab area.
