GHAZNI CITY (PAN): Gunmen disembarked four construction workers, including two engineers, from a vehicle and shot three of them dead in southern Ghazni province, officials said on Monday.

The fourth worker, all belonged to a construction firm called AFEC, was injured in the incident that happened on the Kabul-Kandahar highway in Nani area of Andar district, the governor’s spokesman said.

They were heading to Ghazni city from the site in Qarabagh district when intercepted by unknown gunmen, Fazlur Rahman Sabawoon told Pajhwok Afghan News. The victims hailed from eastern Nangarhar and Laghman provinces, he said.

Ghazni Civil Hospital chief Baz Mohammad Himmat confirmed they had been delivered dead bodies of two engineers and a worker and an injured person. The injured was taken to Kabul for further treatment, he said.

Resident Shakir said the engineers had been involved in the construction of a building for the Qarabagh district headquarters.
