KABUL): With long-term cooperation agreements high on his agenda, President Hamid Karzai on Sunday left for a visit to three European nations, his office said.
On the first leg of the trip, the president would reach Helsinki and sign a cooperation pact with Finland’s Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen on Monday.
From Helsinki, Karzai would proceed to Estonia for talks on expanding bilateral relations, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.
In Denmark, he would ink a strategic cooperation agreement with Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, the statement added.
Last year, Afghanistan signed similar accords with a number of countries, including Britain, France, Germany and Italy.
The president is accompanied by his Foreign Minister Dr. Zalmai Rassoul, National Security Advisor Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta, Advisor on International Affairs Yahya Maroofi and other high-ranking officials.
