Taliban attacks leave 4 ALP members dead
SHIBERGHAN (PAN): Four members of the US-backed Afghan Local Police (ALP) force were killed in a Taliban attack on their checkpoint and a landmine in the Qush Tepa district of northern Jawzjan province on Monday, an official said.
The insurgents damaged the post and took away ALP weapons as a result of the predawn assault, which triggered a clash lasting one hour, the district’s administrative head, Aminullah, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said three policemen were killed in the checkpoint assault and a fourth died in a roadside blast that hit reinforcements were on their way to the post.
Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the attack also wounded a dozen ALP personnel and the fighters had seized seven weapons from the policemen.
