Salang Pass reopens for traffic

CHARIKAR with northern provinces, reopened on Tuesday for traffic after day-long closure due to snowfall and a hailstorm, an official said.

Hundreds of vehicles had been stranded since Monday in the Khinjan district of Baghlan and Jabalus Saraj district of Parwan province due to the storm.

The busy route was reopened at around 7am, the highway maintenance commander, Gen. Rajab, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He said they would allow trucks to pass the highway after the road had been cleared of snow.
