Thousands rally against Pakistan in Jalalabad

JALALABAD (PANinfo-icon): Thousands of people rallied in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, against Pakistaninfo-icon on Thursday, supporting Afghan security forces.

Afghan forces pulled down a border gate following a seven-hour clash with Pakistani troops in the Goshta district the province. One Afghan border policeman -- Qasim Mujahid -- was martyred in the high-stakes clash.

As the victim’s body was carried for burial, thousands of protestors in the city chanted “Down with Pakistan, down with ISIinfo-icon and long live Afghan security forces”.

One demonstrator, Rahmatullah, said the protestors Afghan policemen a piggyback ride and held their portraits in a show of support for the security personnel.

He added all shops in the city were closed as people streamed to the venue of funeral prayers for the policeman, a resident of Khewa district, who was killed in the overnight skirmish in Goshta.
