KABUL): Pledging support to the security personnel, hundreds of Kabul residents on Friday staged a protest against corruption and air pollution.

The demonstrators started a march from the Kabul University at 7:30 am and dispersed in the Dar-ul-Aman neighbourhood of this central capital, where pollution levels are high.

One of the organisers of the rally, Syed Abdul Hadi Hidayat, told Pajhwok Afghan News their objectives included war on corruption and support to security forces as well as the municipality.

“We want a clean city and an efficient municipality, but hate corruption and the lawmakers who have compromised on these issues,” said another protester, Nangyalai Nekzad.

Kabul’s environment was extremely polluted and corruption rampant in the municipality, complained Abdul Waheed Hamidi, who said they wanted the authorities to pay due attention to the issues.
