KABUL Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) in the northwestern city of Peshawar on Saturday morning, as pre-poll violence continued in the nuclear-capable country.

Police said the time device, planted outside the PTI office on Panchgai road, exploded but caused no loss of life. However, the election office and some shops were destroyed, the Dawn newspaper reported.

Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, the PTI chairman, is scheduled to address a public meeting in Peshawar later in the day.

Elsewhere in the neighbouring nation, a PTI security guard was mysteriously found dead in Lahore, Express News said. Identified as Muzzafar Khan, the victim was to get married on May 16.

Late on Friday, the Pakistani Taliban warned the Awami National Party of dire consequences in letters received by the party election offices in Peshawar.

Scores of the party workers and leaders have been killed by the Taliban militants for having secular views in the lead-up to the May 11 elections. Bashir Bilour — a party stalwart — was assassinated in a militant attack in the city in December.

Other ANP leaders, including Bashir Jan, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour and Haroon Bilour, have survived a series of attacks in recent weeks. Over 70 people have been killed in attacks on different political parties across the country since April 11.
