KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): A border policeman and two insurgents have been killed in a clash in the Shurabak district of southern Kandahar province, officials said on Saturday.
Abdul Naafe Baris, the district’s administrative head, told Pajhwok Afghan News a group of insurgents fired on a border police post in Sarlik Valley.
In the ensuing fire exchange that lasted 15 minutes, one policeman and two insurgents were killed, the official said. The fighters had sneaked into the area from Pakistan, he claimed.
Unaware of the incident, the Taliban claimed killing four border policemen in a roadside bombing in Shurabak. However, Afghan officials rejected the claim as baseless.
