FARAH CITY (PAN): Three boosters of private telecommunications companies were destroyed in rocket attack by militants in western Farah province, an official said on Monday.

Located in the Nawbahar village on the outskirts of Farah City, the towers belonged to Roshan, Etisalat and Afghan Wireless Companies, said the governor’s spokesman, Abdul Rahman Zhwandai.

Mohammad Qasim, a resident of Nawbahar, said dozens of Taliban fighters entered the village late on Sunday night, destroying the towers. He added civilians were not harmed in the overnight attacks.

One MTN booster was torched by suspected insurgents in the Masaw village of Pusht-i-Rod district, according to Zhwandai, who gave no further details.
