Sherzai meets Pakistan consul-general
JALALABAD (PAN): The provincial administration and residents of eastern Nangarhar province would exercise all their influence to prevent the reconstruction of a border gate in Goshta district, the Governor’s House said on Monday.
Governor Gul Agha Sherzai informed the Pakistan Consulate in Jalalabad that Pakistani border guards’ efforts to rebuild the controversial gate, a statement from his office said.
The statement quoted Sherzai as telling the envoy that reconstruction work on the contested gate in Lwar Ghakh area should be halted until high-level delegations from both countries found a solution to the problem.
It added the governor’s directive had been conveyed to Pakistan’s paramilitary troops in Goshta through border police. The provincial administration also shared the issue with president.
