ASADABAD (PAN): A polio case has been detected in the Khas Kunar district of eastern Kunar province, where authorities decided to execute fresh polio campaigns, an official said on Tuesday.
A baby girl has tested positive for the crippling disease, Public Health Director Dr. Asadullah Fazli told Pajhwok Afghan News. He said the victim was born a month ago.
Following the detection of the case, the Ministry of Public approved the implementation of two extraordinary polio drives in the province, which would be carried out on May 23, Fazli said.
He urged residents to administer polio drops to their children below five years of age and assist vaccinator in successfully executing the campaigns.
