KABUL (PAN): The government should not subject media organisations to selective treatment to promote the freedom of expression in the country, the deputy minister of information and culture said on Tuesday.

Addressing a function on World Press Freedom Day, Din Mohammad Mobarez Rashedi remarked: “When want the Afghan media to behave in a lively manner, there should be no press advice…”

He argued when a law regulating media outlets had already been put in place, government officials shout not give news organisations sets of dos and don’ts. Flaws in the law, if any, could be rectified, he said.
