ISLAMABAD (PAN has been suspended for a short period of time, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said on Wednesday.
The UN agency linked the three-day suspension to Pakistan’s parliamentary elections, saying the process would resume on May 14. The Afghan-Pakistan border will also be sealed on the voting day.
Similarly, a statement from UNHCR said its offices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province would remain closed from May 9 13 and in southwestern Balochistan province from May 10 to 13.
Afghans refugees have been asked to avoid visiting markets and other crowded places for security reasons during the election. The refugees were advised to carry legal documents while travelling within Pakistan.
