KABUL): The Right and Justice Party on Thursday strongly denied receiving money from any foreign organisation on a monthly basis as reported by two local media outlets.

Hamidullah Farooqi, the party spokesman, told a press conference in Kabul the allegation should be investigated. He asked the media outlets to produce evidence in support of their claim.

He added the party had been accused of receiving $60,000 per month from the Dubai-based Anham Company — a logistic supply firm.

Farooqi said funds for the party were raised by its members and it had never accepted financial support from a foreign country or organisation.

He said there might be individual trade links between party members and Anham, but their businesses had nothing to do with party affairs. He warmed of moving the court if the media organisations failed to produce evidence.

Three days ago, the National Security Council said some Afghan politicians were paid money by Anham.

Farooqi said some political forces were out to level baseless allegations against the Right and Justice Party in a bid to damage its reputation.

Without naming anyone, he said some rival politicians wanted to create problems for their party in the run-up to next year’s presidential and provincial council elections.
