Abducted MDC workers shifted to Tirah
JALALABAD (PAN): The eleven employees of a mine-clearing organisation, who were abducted from the Achin district of Nangarhar province, have been taken to Pakistan’s northwestern Tirah Valley, officials said on Sunday.
On Thursday, 11 employees and three vehicles of the Mine Detection Centre (MDC) were seized by an armed group in the Bander area of Achin district, the town’s administrative head, Malim Mashooq, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The abductors initially took the detainees to Zari Bander area before shifting them across the border to Tirah area, he said, adding: “Despite consistent efforts, we have been unable to contact the captors,”
Malang Jan, a resident of Bander area, said one of the vehicle had been left in the locality, but there was information about the detainees. “A group of Pakistani rebels, led by Sher Wali, is involved in the kidnap incident,” he claimed.
