Turning in their weapons to security personnel, the groups’ surrender would help improve security in the provinces, a statement from the intelligence department said.
It added the surrendering fighters had sought work opportunities and implementation of reconstruction projects in their areas.
Since the creation of the High Peace Council in 2010, more than 6,000 militants have joined the peace process and 4,500 of them have been provided work opportunities.
