LASHKARGAH (PAN): A poetry session — “Helmand Seend” — attended by dozens of poets and writers, was held in the capital of southern Helmand province, officials said on Friday.

Poets from different provinces and officials, including members of Wolesi Jirga, took part in the event on Thursday night at the Karzai Stadium in Lashkargah.

Director of Information and Culture Ali Shah Mazlumyar told Pajhwok Afghan News Governor Mohammad Naeem urged participants to promote in their work peace and counternarcotics efforts.

The participants presented poems on a recent Goshta border clash, the Durand Line’s internal affairs, Mazlumyar said.

He added the poets also read out poems regarding reforms in government institutions, the fight against corruption and awareness among Afghans.
