Protestors shut Kabul-Pul-i-Khumri road

PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN-Pul-i-Khumri highway before the traffic.

Nearly 300 protesters closed the busy highway before traffic at around 10 am.

Speaking on behalf of protestors, Haji Mohammad Hakim said several villages and thousands of acres of land would be drowned, if Kilagi power dam was constructed.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News that they would continue their demonstrations until Afghan government give them lands in other area of the province.  

Previously, the Ministry of Energy and Water said that construction work on Kilagi power dam that located 10 kilometres from the provincial capital would be launched in the ongoing Afghan calendar year.
