12 killed in Quetta car bomb blast
KABUL (PAN): A car bomb blast killed a dozen people, of which eight were policemen, and injured 21 others in Quetta, the capital of Pakistan's Balochistan province near the Afghanistan border on Thursday morning, police said.
The remote-controlled bomb targeted the vehicle of police's Rapid Response Force (RRP) in Eastern Bypass area of Quetta, Fayyaz Sumbal, the Deputy Inspector General Police, said.
He said unknown militants had planted explosive materials in a car, which was parked on the roadside. There was a huge blast when the RRF vehicle reached the spot, he said, adding the strength of blast destroyed police vehicles and nearby buildings.
Bomb disposal squad officials said more than 100 kgs explosives were used. Emergency was imposed in civil hospital Quetta where the injured were rushed for treatment.
