Darzaab district chief injured in suicide blast

SHIBERGHAN (PAN): The Darzaab district chief was injured in a suicide attack in northern Jawzjan province on Monday.

The district chief, Rahmatullah Hashar, told Pajhwok Afghan News he was coming out of a mosque after attending a fateha ceremony when the bomber on a motorbike approached him and detonated his suicide vest in the district centre.

Only he was hurt in the blast that took place around 10:30am, he added.

“As I came out of the mosque, I saw a motorcyclist rushing toward the district chief and blew up his suicide vest upon reaching close to him,” eyewitness Mohammad Ismail said.

There was no claim of responsibility for the explosion.
