Kareme’s son allegedly beats injured policeman

KABUL): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Monday said it was seriously following the beating incident of a policeman, calling it unacceptable.

MoI spokesman Ghulam Saddiq Saddique told Pajhwok Afghan News whoever involved in the incident should be punished.

The victim told reporters he was brutally beaten by Afghan army chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Shir Mohammad Kareme’s son in Pul-i-Mohammad Khan area on Saturday evening.
He suffered severe injuries and is currently admitted to a hospital for treatment.
“We were instructed not to allow any vehicle inside the security belt without proper inspection. It was 6pm when Afghan army chief of staff, Sher Mohammad Karimi’s son entered the security belt with a corolla vehicle.”
“We requested him to stop the vehicle and allow police to inspect his vehicle but he said that the whole city knows him,” the injured policeman said.
He continued Kareme’s son then called the ministry of defense following verbal clashes and two army vehicles arrived to the scene to support him.
He said around 18 Afghan army officers started beating him and he fell unconscious.
But Saddique said the individual who ordered the policeman to be beaten up had not been detained.

He did not confirm if the army chief’s son was involved. “Whoever carried out the action should be punished. For us, it is not acceptable,” he said.

Following the incident, a large number of social media users such as Facebook posted photos of the injured policeman and condemned the action in their strongest words. They urged the government to bring the culprits to justice.
