KABUL) in Kabul, an official said on Thursday.

The intelligence detained Mullah Tor Gul — from Baghlan province – along with five would-be bombers during a raid on his house in the 17th police district of the central capital.

One of the suspected militants was killed in retaliatory fire from the security personnel, the NDS deputy spokesman, Shafiqullah Tahiri, told a news conference here.

Five suicide vests weighing eight kilograms each, a machine gun, four Kalashnikovs with 20 magazines, a RPG7, 13 hand grenades, eight mobile phone sets, propaganda material and maps were recovered from the bombers.

The fighters loyal to the Sirajuddin Haqqani group wanted to attack government institutions in Kabul, the NDS official claimed, alleging they were led by insurgent leaders based in the Miranshah town of Waziristan in Pakistan.
