KABUL on Friday denied their involvement in a recent attack on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) office in the eastern city of Jalalabad.
Three days after the much-condemned incident, the insurgent movement said in a statement that it did not support assaults on the humanitarian organisations active in the country.
Following Wednesday’s suicide attack, which left six assailants and two ICRC staffers dead and two Afghan workers wounded, the group halted operations across Afghanistan.
According to the Taliban statement, the fighters supported the organisations that truly provided relief for the people and had no interest in intelligence-gathering activities.
In an attempt to substantiate its claim, the movement recalled its recent announcement promising cooperation with volunteers involved in an anti-polio campaign.
