2 dead, 11 injured in Ghor bombing
CHAGHCHARAN (PAN): Two civilians were killed and nearly a dozen others sustained injuries when the passenger coach they were travelling in struck a roadside bomb in western Ghor province, an official said on Saturday.
The coach was en route to Chaghcharan, the provincial capital, from neighbouring Herat province on Friday evening when it hit the explosive device in Dolana district.
Habibullah, the town’s administrative head, told Pajhwok Afghan News some of the injured passengers were in critical condition.
A doctor on duty at the provincial civil hospital, Qadir Aarifi, said an injured man and a child were discharged after treatment. Another nine people were taken to the district health centre and their condition was stable.
Mohammad Noor, a resident, said the coach was also comprehensively destroyed in the blast. He added the Taliban had planted landmines in the areas few days ago when they attacked a police post.
The provincial police chief also held the Taliban responsibility for the incident.
A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, who did not comment on the blast, said the fighters clashed with police in the district, injuring four policemen.
