JALALABAD/KUNDUZ CITY (PAN were killed in northern Kunduz province, officials said on Saturday.
The guards were gunned down in Sra Qala area on Saturday morning when they were on their way to the district headquarters, Chaparhar administrative head Mohammad Siddique told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The attackers managed to flee, but police launched had a search for them, he said.
Separately, five insurgents including two Chechen fighters were killed on Friday night when they attacked a police checkpoint in the Haji Amanullah area of Chahar Dara district of Kunduz province, police officer Col. Ghulam Mohiuddin said.
Nine insurgents were injured, but the security personnel suffered no casualties, he said.
On the other hand, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed the fighters attacked a checkpoint, killing four local policemen in the Qasab area of the district.
