IOM promises to continue work

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): International Organisation for Migration (IOM) head in Kabul Richard Danziger on Saturday promised the group would continue its activities in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

A week after a deadly attack on the IOM office, Danziger held out the assurance at a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Ershad Ahmadi at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to a statement from the foreign ministry, Danziger praised the timely response of Afghan security forces to the attack, saying they had demonstrated great bravery and courage.

He explained IOM had been providing assistance to the Afghan people for 21 years and it was not involved in any political activity.

Ahmadi condemned the attack in the strongest possible terms, welcoming the continuation of IOM work. He said the Afghan government would make efforts to provide IOM an enabling environmentinfo-icon.
