Pak soldiers operating in Wardak in guise of Taliban

KABUL insurgents, officials and residents claimed on Sunday.

The governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, alleged the Pakistanis had entered Afghanistan from the Waziristan tribal region and they had a vast experience in carrying out terrorist activities.

“They enjoy support from local Taliban and their joint mission is to spread propaganda against Afghan forces among the people,” said Khogyani, citing intelligence reports.

He said the intruders had told local tribal elders their target was Indian soldiers, while there were no Indian personnel or firms in the province.

A Chak district resident, Khan Mohammad, said a number of Pakistani Taliban could be seen roaming about villages in broad daylight.

He said all the powers rested with the Waziristanis, who dispatched local fighters for terror activities to other parts of the country. The Pakistani rebels also search vehicles in Zamankhel area on a daily basis.

The Waziristanis also operate in other districts, including Daimirdad and Sayedabad, Mohammad said. “The foreign insurgents operate openly, but residents are silent, they cannot speak out against them.”

Another resident, who declined to be named, said the Pakistani Taliban arrived in Wardak this year in large numbers, compared to previous years.
