PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN): Security officials and residents fished out on Wednesday seven bodies of the people who had drowned in the Doshi River in northern Baghlan province two days ago.

The dead included a woman, her two daughters, a son and another person, the Doshi district chief, Sahmsuddin Sarhadi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

There were 10 people of a family travelling in a vehicle that plunged into the river on Monday after crashing into another car on their way from Kabul to Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital of Balkh province.

Three persons, including the father, survived the mishap.

Local officials said the bodies were found a kilometer away from the site where they had fallen.

Kunduz traffic department head Col. Syed Mahbob said the vehicle crashed into a car in the Sar-i-Pul area of Doshi district before plunging into the river. He blamed the incident on reckless driving.

Three days ago, a man and a child were killed and three others were wounded in a collision on the Kabul-Shamal highway in Baghlan.
