Karzai greets Sharif on assuming office

KABUL’s newly-elected Prime Minister Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif and felicitated him on his assumption of office.

A statement issued from the Presidential Palace said Karzai extended his best wishes and hoped both countries would continue to work together for improving their bilateralrelations in the interest of peace and stability in the region.

Karzai invited Sharif to visit Afghanistan. The prime minister accepted the invitation and thanked the president for his goodwill gesture. Sharif said he was looking forward to visiting Afghanistan, the statement said.
