KABUL were killed and eight others detained as a result of operations across the country over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Friday.
Afghan police, army and intelligence personnel, backed by coalition forces, conducted the clearing operations in Kunar, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Jawzjan, Zabul, Uruzgan, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Khost, Paktia and Helmand provinces.
A statement from the ministry said 53 fighters were killed, nine wounded and eight others detained during the operations. Police discovered and confiscated ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
