Director arrested on corruption charges

HERAT CITY (PAN): The director of information and culture of northwestern Badghis province was detained on Monday on charges of misuse of his position and corruption, an official said.

Ahmad Ihsan Sarooryar was detained by Herat police after he was accused by Wolesi Jirga’s Audit Commission of misusing his position, Herat Prosecutor Gul Ahmad Ramesh said.

He was also accused of administrative graft by the High Office for Oversight and Anti-Corruption in the western zone. The detainee is currently under interrogation.
