KABUL): Hundreds of nomadic Kuchis on Monday took to the streets in central Maidan Wardak provinces against Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers.
The soldiers prevented them from entering their homes in Hazara-dominated areas of Wardak, Haji Alok Kakozai, an organiser of the protest, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said their return to homes was previously impeded by members of the Hazara tribe. But now security personnel have also started blocking their entry to the areas, according to Kakozai.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the three-hour demonstration in Maidan Shahar, the provincial capital. The protest that erupted at 9am ended at 12 noon, he said.
