KABUL): President Hamid Karzai will be leaving for neighbouring Iran to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the country’s newly elected president Hassan Rohani, the Karzai’s office said on Tuesday.

During a telephonic conversation on Monday, Karzai once again congratulated Rohani on his historic victory in the June 14 presidential elections, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.

Afghanistan is ready for all kind of cooperation with its friendly and brotherly country of Iran,” Karzai was quoted as telling the new Iranian leader via the telephone.
