13 rebels killed in Nangarhar, Wardak clashes
JALALABAD (PAN): More than a dozen Taliban insurgents were killed during separate clashes with Afghan and foreign troops in eastern Nangarhar and central Maidan Wardak provinces, officials said on Friday.
Ten militants were killed and two others wounded during an operation on Thursday night by a joint Afghan-ISAF force in Nangarhar, police spokesman Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The joint forces and civilians stayed unhurt during the operation aimed at driving insurgents from Mamond, Abdulkhel and Shadar areas between the Achin and Spin Ghar districts, he said.
In central Maidan Wardak, three militants were killed in an ISAF airstrike in Patang area of Syedabad district, the governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, said.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said two Afghan soldiers had died and three others injured during a roadside bomb attack in the Achin district of Nangarhar. He expressed his unawareness about the airstrike in Wardak province.
