KABUL Arsalan Rahmani, in Kabul, amid calls for the arrest of his killers. Rahmani was killed on May 13, 2012 in Kabul by unidentified gunmen.
Nearly 500 people, including high ranking government officials, including High Peace Council leaders were in attendance.
“Rahmani was one of my closest friends, he was a prominent person whose death was a huge loss for us, especially for ulema,” Mujaddadi said on the occasion.
“The government unfortunately has not been able so far to arrest the murders of Rahmani,” Muslimyar said for his part.
He asked the government to identify, arrest and punish Rahmani’s killers and urgently investigate the case.
Rabbani said Rahmani had been struggling for peace in the country, but the enemies of Afghanistan killed him.
While referring to the assassination of his father, HPC chief Barhanuddin Rabbani, Salahuddin Rabbani said the enemies of Afghanistan could not stop them from working for peace and bringing stability to the country.
Once served as a jihadi commander, Rahmani would always support efforts at bringing about peace to Afghanistan and had discharged his duty in this regard, said former Maidan Wardak governor Mohammad Halim Fidae.
