KABUL-led force said on Sunday.

Maj. Gen. Ravinder Singh called on ISAF Commander Gen. Joseph F. Dunford and appreciated NATO’s support to Singapore troops during their six years stay in Afghanistan.

Dunford hailed Singapore as a valued partner in contributing to international security and stability efforts in Afghanistan. “The Singapore contingent is serving honourably and contributes distinguished service to this mission.

A statement from ISAF quoted Dunford as saying. “Through their dedication to their tasks and missions here, and to their fellow countrymen, the Singaporeans have helped create a stronger and more stable Afghanistan…”

During his visit to Multinational Base Tirinkot, Singh met Regional Command- South Commander Maj. Gen. Robert Abe Abrams.

NATO Senior Civilian Representative Ambassador Maurits Jochems said: “As the representative of the alliance in Afghanistan, I express our deep appreciation for the contribution Singapore has made to the NATO-led mission here.

“The ISAF mission, the largest military coalition in history, is truly global in nature and Singapore has demonstrated with this contribution its commitment to a peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan as an indispensable element of increased stability in the region.”

Singapore has deployed 492 soldiers during its six-year mission, supporting coalition partners in humanitarian assistance and reconstruction efforts, force protection, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and training of Afghanistan forces.
