KABUL (PAN): A suicide bomber was shot dead on Monday before he could attack the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in the heavily-fortified capital Kabul, the spy service said.
The shooting place around 8am in Charah-i-Sadarat Square, close to the European Union Mission, a brief statement from the intelligence agency said.
It added that assailant was clad in a military uniform. But the intelligence service did not reveal the suicide bomber’s identity, saying he was killed as he approached the NDS office.
“With the killing of this suicide attacker, a bloody terrorist attack has been prevented,” the NDS said of the incident in an area close to the interior ministry.
