KABUL): Heads of all 34 provincial councils (PCs) on Thursday announced their support for the government’s stance on the peace process and the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) with the US.

During a meeting, Karzai and the council heads also discussed next year’s presidential and provincial council elections, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.

Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) chief Abdul Khaliq Farahi also participated in the meeting that reviewed the current political situation and recent developments on the reconciliation front.

The participants stoutly supported the stand of Karzai on negotiations with the US on the security pact and ongoing efforts to step up the peace drive, the statement added.
