GARDEZ (PAN): Five projects were completed and another four launched on university campus in southeastern Paktia province on Sunday.

Higher Education Minister Obaidullah Obaid inaugurated newly-constructed buildings for a conference hall, a cafeteria, a library, a new girls’ hostel and an information technology office.

Paktia University Chancellor Prof. Abdul Rahim Farahi told Pajhwok Afghan News Obaid, accompanied by some lawmakers, also launched construction work on new buildings for medical, economic, teaching and training faculties.

Farahi said the projects completed cost $8.4 million which had been jointly provided by the higher education and counternarcotics ministries.

The chancellor said another four buildings would also be constructed on campus in the near future. He did not elaborate.

Obaid acknowledged the Paktia University required many facilities because it was newly established. He promised efforts at meeting university requirements.
