ZARANJ (PAN): Two polio vaccinators have been abducted by unknown individuals in the Chakhchar district of northwestern Nimroz province, officials said on Monday.

The two vaccinators – – a doctor and a volunteer — were kidnapped in the Aor village, where they had gone to administer polio drops to children, the district chief, Aqa Mohammad Fazli, said.

Holding the Taliban responsible for the abduction, Fazli said the vaccinators had visited the area without informing local authorities

“When we were informed that two vaccinators have been kidnapped, we went to the area to rescue them, but the Taliban took them to the Bakwah district,” the official said.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
