KABUL): Nineteen individuals were convicted on drug-trafficking charges and handed different jail sentences by the Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) on Tuesday.
Prison sentences from seven to 18 years were awarded to the men from Helmand, Herat and Nimroz provinces by the appellant court.
CJTF spokesman Ahmad Khalid Mowahid told Pajhwok Afghan News police had detained the alleged traffickers with more than four kilograms of heroin, 481 kg of opium and 228 kg of morphine and 1,000 litres of acid.
The accused, having defence attorneys to plead their cases, were convicted at separate judicial trials based on evidence brought before the court under the country’s counter-narcotics law.
