KABUL insurgents have been killed, 73 detained and 20 others wounded over the past 20 days in central Logar province, a military official said on Tuesday.

The Afghan National Army’s 203rd Thunder Military Corps concluded a day earlier a cleanup operation that targeted militants in Mohammad Agha, Baraki Barak, Charkh districts and the provincial capital, Pul-i-Alam, a military commander told reporters.

Six Afghan troops were also killed and three others wounded while civilians stayed unharmed during the offensive that resulted in the seizure of weapons, suicide belts, five cars and one motorcycle, Gen. Abdul Raziq Safi said.

Elsewhere, three Afghan Local Police members and four Taliban were killed during a clash in the Sara Roza district of southeastern Paktika province on Tuesday, the district chief said.

Raz Mohammad Mukhlis added the policemen were travelling in the Marzak area in the noon when they were ambushed by insurgents.

In southern Ghazni province, a 15-year-old boy was killed when a bomb planted on his bicycle was remotely detonated in the Amir Mohammad Khan Qala area on the outskirts of Ghazni City, the provincial capital.

Secretary to the provincial governor, Nabi Jan, said a policeman was injured in the blast. However, he said it remained unclear whether it was a remote-controlled blast or the boy himself had detonated the explosive device.
