KABUL lands in central Kabul province, officials said on Thursday.

The flooding which began two days ago hit the Nanzai area of Sarobi and the Chinar area of Khak-i-Jabbar districts, authorities said.

Allah Gul Jalalzai, the irrigation manger and a resident of Nanzai village, said 10 people were injured in the disaster that completely destroyed four homes and partially damaged 45 others.

About 100 acres of agriculture land, three orchards and a kilometer long portion of a road were destroyed by the floods which drowned 16 livestock and swept away wheat crops.

The resident urged the government to reconstruct all damaged houses and gardens, saying residents alone could not do that.

In Khak-i-Jabbar, about 98 homes, 26 small water dams and more than 75 acres of agriculture land were destroyed by the floods, the district development council chief, Haji Zazai, said.

He claimed 60 household animals were lost to the deluge by farmers who relied on livestock and farming. “Most residents are farmers who do not have any other source of income. We request the government and aid organisations to help the affected families.”
