KABUL): President Hamid Karzai on Saturday appointed new police chiefs for Farah and Helmand provinces. Similarly, new crime branch heads and deputy police chiefs were named for Kandahar and Helmand.
The appointments had been made in accordance with Ministry of Interior recommendations and in the public interest, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.
Brig. Gen. Mohammad Hakim Angar, currently serving as Farah police chief, has been promoted to the rank of major general and transferred to Helmand.
According to the statement, Brig. Gen. Mirwais Noorzai — the former head of the 404th Maiwand Police Zone — been posted as Farah police chief.
Additionally, Col. Toryali Abdani has been promoted as brigadier general and posted as deputy police chief for Kandahar. Also elevated to the same rank is Rahmatullah, who has been appointed as crime branch chief for the province.
Brig. Gen. Juma Gul Himmat has been appointed as deputy police chief and Brig. Gen. Mohammad Ayub as crime branch head for Helmand province.
