7 dead in bomb attack on ISI compound
Suspected insurgents crashed an explosives-laden vehicle into a local office of Pakistan's spy service in Sukkur city, wounding more than 40 people.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Javed Odho said the brazen assault triggered a shootout between security officials and the assailants. The powerful blasts caused major damage to the ISI office.
Around 10 gunmen have attacked the heavily-guarded compound, said Masood Bangash, the deputy superintendent of police. A Shiite mosque, the commissioner residence and Rangers’ headquarters are also located in the neighbourhood.
