Sports complex inaugurated in Wardak

KABUL stadium was inaugurated in central Maidan Wardak province on Saturday, an official said.

Spread over half a dozen acres of land, the complex cost $232,000 provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the governor’s spokesman said.

Attaullah Khogyani added Governor Abdul Majeed Khogyani, accompanied by some provincial officials, inaugurated the stadium .

In addition to facilities for various games, the complex has a lawn, a water reservoir, rooms, exclusive places for spectators, solar lights, washrooms, the gubernatorial spokesman said.

At the inauguration ceremony, the governor said his administration planned to build another complex in Maidan Shahr, the provincial capital, and a cricket ground. He urged the youth to positively and carefully use sports facilities and parks and work for their preservation.

A Maidan Shahr resident, Khalid Ahmad, said the city had no sports facility in the past.
