KABUL): A bomb blast at a square in the central capital Kabul spread panic on Friday, but caused no casualties, police said.

The magnetic bomb had been planted in a car belonging to a trader parked in the Pamir Cinema area.

It exploded around 11am, causing a fire that gutted the car, Kabul deputy police chief Brig. Gen. Mohammad Daud Amin told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The incident is being investigated, he said.

Eyewitnesses said it was a powerful blast that threw parts of the car 25 metres away.

A shop owner in the area, Ajmal, said fire fighters reached the site soon after the blast to put up the fire.

The impact of the blast shattered glasses of several nearby shops, he added.
