MAIMANA (PAN commanders were killed during a clash with police in northwestern Faryab province on Tuesday, when a dead body was found in central Parwan province, officials said.

Mullah Qayyum and Mullah Saati were killed after they attacked an Afghan Local Police (ALP) post in the Yakabagh area of Qaisar district, Faryab police chief, Col. Nabi Jan Mullakhel told Pajhwok Afghan News.

One of the accomplices of the commanders was wounded during the clash, he said, adding police suffered no casualties.

An elder of the area said a 20-member insurgent group surrounded ALP Commander Jan Mohammad but he resisted and killed one fighter and wounded two others.

Local officials said Jan Mohammad was recently appointed as ALP commander for Qaisar district.

According to another report, the body of a young man was found in the Alikhel area of the Bagram district of Parwan province. The 30 years old was shot dead by unidentified gunmen, district chief Abdul Shakoor Qudusi said.
