KABUL): Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Thursday asked the people to get voter cards to be able to cast their ballots for candidates of their choice in next year’s presidential elections.

During his biweekly address to the nation, Karzai said that the national process of election could be a success if all eligible voters in the country got the cards and participated in the elections.

The people who had already got voter cards in the previous elections could use them for casting ballots in the 2014 polls, the president explained.

Presidential and provincial council elections would be another important step toward bringing stability to the country, he remarked, urging the masses should join hands with the government in restoring peace.

By casting their votes, the people would help put the country on the road to progress and prosperity, he believed, asking men, women, elders and youth to actively participate in the elections.
